Gerry Mulligan CALIFORNIA CONCERT (LLR-8888)
The jacket is primarily black on both the front and back, so there's no noticeable discoloration. There are no scratches or stains on the outside. The liner notes show some yellowing. The disc has been played on both sides, and there are no scratches, stains, or crackling sounds. This is a domestic pressing, with the reissue year unknown. Following the popularity of the piano-less quartet led by Gerry Mulligan (bs) and Chet Baker (tp), Chet was arrested for drug possession in '54. John Eardley was brought in as a replacement. Side A features the quartet, while Side B features a sextet with the addition of Bob Brookmeyer (tb) and Zoot Sims (ts). Side A offers beautiful harmonies, while Side B showcases the improvisational interplay of each musician.
