Vintage 1930s-40s RANCHO ALEGRE TAXCO Sterling Silver & Abalone "S" Cufflinks
A good looking pair of near antique cufflinks from Rancho Alegre. Colorful pieces of abalone are inlaid closely together and are set flush with the silver tops. The design is a calligraphy style initial S which flashes with shades of green and blue as the light plays over the surface, as well as bits of purple, pink and a peachy orange. The cufflink tops are 3/4 square and the post and swiveling bar are both 5/8 long. Marked on the reverse Sterling, Taxco 925, Rancho Alegre, which dates them prior to 1948, when the eagle assay mark became official for the entire nation. The pair have combined weight of 15 grams and are in good vintage condition, displaying age appropriate wear, but free of any damage that I could detect.
